A CATHOLIC priest accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy has been rebailed.
Canon Francis Moran has been suspended from his position at St Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, in Brook Road, Thornton Heath, since he was arrested in September.
Scotland Yard said the allegations relate to a teenage boy, but have not confirmed when they date back to.
Canon Moran, 52, attended a south London police station this week and was rebailed until late June pending further investigation.
In a statment read out during Mass at St Andrew's following his arrest, Archbishop Peter Smith said the priest had been "temporarily withdrawn" from church life and moved away from the parish, adding: "This action does not in any way imply guilt on his part."
Canon Moran was appointed to St Andrew's in 2004 and is also the safeguarding officer for the Archdiocese of Southwark.
