TWO teenagers are to appear in court charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at Arena tram stop last month.
The 15-year-old boys, who cannot be named because of their age, are accused of attacking a 17-year-old at Arena tram stop on February 5.
The victim, from Croydon, was stabbed several times in the chest after intervening in an altercation taking place on the Elmers End-bound platform at 7.15pm.
Both of the 15-year-olds are charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, in one case a knife and in the other a sock containing rocks. The second youth is also charged with assaulting another person during the same incident.
They are both due to appear for a plea and case management hearing at Croydon Magistrates' Court on Monday (March 18).
The first youth is also charged with a number of other offences, including robbing someone of their BlackBerry mobile phone, and attempting to rob someone else, at Melfort Road, Thornton Heath, on February 13.
He is also charged with possession of cannabis, travelling on a train without paying a fare and failing to comply with a curfew imposed as part of a youth rehabilitation order between January 19 and January 31.
