RED Nose Day was celebrated at Trinity School throughout the school day on Friday. Tom Donovan and Laurence Watchorn in Year 9 organised a photograph stand, where students were invited to have a picture taken with a red nose and a friend for 50p. They also ran a sale of popcorn, sweets and soft drinks in morning break. Tom said: "We really enjoyed doing it and I think Comic Relief is such a good cause." Laurence added: "We were surprised at how quickly we sold out. We brought in a big holiday suitcase which we'd filled with bags of popcorn, sweets and cans and we'd sold out by the end of morning break. It's been great fun. Next time we will bring lots more!" Together the boys raised over £70 for Comic Relief. A big box of red noses also passed from classroom to classroom throughout the day raised quite a bit more, although the full amount is not yet known. This was part of a wear-your-own clothes day and each form was encouraged to raise money for a charity of their choice, including Comic Relief. Maureen Dixon, Head of Community Action, said: "It's been a very well supported charity day today. I am very impressed with the enthusiasm and energy that the boys have put into their fundraising projects. "Trinity has been buzzing with the all the activities going on in the corridors and outside with cake and sweet sales probably the most popular form of fundraising, but also a guess the staff baby picture competition, car washing, sponge throwing with sixth form prefects in the stocks, as well as raffles and red noses on sale."
