AN interim director of nursing has been appointed at Croydon University Hospital.
Michael Fanning joined Croydon Health Services (CHS) this week, replacing Zoe Packman who is moving to take up a similar position at London Ambulance Service.
Mr Fanning has worked in the NHS for more than 30 years, including 18 months at the Department for Health.
He trained as a nurse in 1983 and has a background in managing an A&E department.
His career includes holding senior positions at hospitals including Oxford Radcliffe and Heatherwood and Wrexham Park.
While at South Central England Strategic Health Authority he led a project which aimed to improve nursing and midwifery care.
His most recent appointment was as interim deputy chief nurse at Milton Keynes Foundation Trust.
CHS said recruitment of a permanent nursing director, which began last Friday (December 5), is being undertaken by the NHS Leadership Academy. Interviews are expected to take place in February next year.
