A MAN has been jailed for a year for violent disorder at the illegal rave at the disused Royal Mail sorting office in June.

Rhys Decker-Heath, 20, of Battersea, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment at Croydon Crown Court this morning (Monday) after an early guilty plea.

Thousands of people attended the rave on June 15, including hundreds of underage children and 15-year-old Rio Andrew who died less than 48 hours after the unlicensed party.

Rio had been drinking a beer laced with ketamine on the evening in question.

Police have arrested 28 people in connection with the rave for charges ranging from violent disorder to possession of class A drugs.

Revellers broke windows and threw furniture, masonry and fire extinguishers at police as they tried to shut the event down.
