TWO men arrested after police raids in connection with the illegal rave in East Croydon where a schoolboy died have been bailed, pending further investigation.

Addresses in Poplar, East London and West Horsley, Surrey were targeted by officers last Thursday (July 31) as part of an investigation into the illegal gathering at the disused Royal Mail sorting office on June 15, where Rio Andrew died.

Fifteen-year-old Rio, from Notting Hill, died after collapsing during the evening after reportedly drinking from a bottle of beer laced with ketamine.

Two men in their 20s were arrested for drugs and licensing offences, and both were taken into custody at a south London police station. They were later bailed, pending further enquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Sian Thomas, from Croydon CID, said: "There are a number of ongoing investigations into the events linked to the illegal rave in East Croydon and we will continue to pursue those involved in any aspect of criminal activity that took place that night.

"Immediately after the event, we made it clear that we were determined to pursue those who were involved in organising the illegal event, and we remain committed to bringing those people to justice."

Police have now arrested 25 people in connection with the rave, nine of whom were arrested during the event.
