THE Green Party has unveiled its manifesto for Croydon ahead of May's local elections.
Croham candidate Tracey Hague joined other candidates on the steps of Croydon town hall on Monday, promising that Croydon under their watch would be healthier, fairer and more affordable.
The party will be standing 70 candidates across Croydon in the elections, due to take place on May 22.
Its local manifesto has ten key promises, including to hold a referendum on the Beddington Lane incinerator, oppose fracking, reduce knife crime, build affordable homes and protect private renters from excessive rents.
The Greens also promise to consult on a 20mph speed limit for all residential roads, invest in cycle lanes, tackle fly-tipping, support the London Living Wage campaign, improve flood planning, and support high-quality public services.
Mrs Hague said Croydon Council under both Labour and the Tories has suffered from "short-termism" and the Greens would focus on "today and tomorrow".
She added: "Croydon needs a strong Green voice. The Green party is the only party that opposes fracking and incineration.
"Without principled councillors, we have observed first-hand how an incinerator has been allowed, through flawed consultations, on Croydon's doorstep."
