THE Croydon Advertiser has been nominated for a pair of prestigious national media awards.
We have been shortlisted for Best Weekly Newspaper at the Society of Editors' annual Regional Press Awards, while chief reporter Gareth Davies is up for Weekly Reporter of the Year - an award he won two years ago.
The Advertiser is up against the Camden New Journal, Cornish Guardian, Essex Chronicle, The Cumberland News, and The Westmorland Gazette in the Weekly Newspaper of the Year (above 20,000) category.
Editor Glenn Ebrey said: "This is a tremendous achievement, especially if you consider we're up against the cream of the regional newspaper crop across the UK.
"Our team are a hugely committed bunch who work tirelessly to give our readers the best possible paper week in, week out; so it's great to receive this sort of recognition."
The winners will be announced at a central London ceremony on Friday, May 16.
