CRYSTAL Palace defender Adrian Mariappa says it was vital the Eagles came away with something from Cardiff City on Saturday.
It what was slightly more a must-win game for the Welsh side in terms of their lower league position, but Palace eased their own relegation worries with all three points and are now up on to 34 points thanks to their 3-0 win.
And Mariappa was once again part of a resolute Palace defence, which hardly gave Cardiff a chance in front of goal.
"Another clean sheet, it's good to get them back-to-back and also wins," he told the Advertiser.
"We worked so hard defensively so to get rewarded with a clean sheet is something very, very good for us.
"Every game coming up to the end of the season now is a cup final for us.
"We took a lot of confidence from last week but we knew Cardiff was also going to be a very, very tough game.
"Playing away from home as well, it was vitally important we came away with something from the game and get some points.
"You're happy to get to get the win but it's on to the next one. We're trying to get as many points as we can to make sure we're in this league for next season.
"When you win you don't get too high and when you lose you don't get too low."
