IT'S fair to say the possibility of flooding in the south of Croydon is no laughing matter. But one wag has at least seen some humour in one of the more bizarre aspects of the flooding story. The 'pond' being created at Purley Cross to keep water away from homes and businesses in the area already has the ultimate seal of approval - its own Twitter account. And @ThePurleyPond has already put a bid in for an Advertiser interview though this is unlikely to happen; 1) as its 'agent' is demanding money for the privilege, and 2) it's, er, a pond. Here's a few of its Tweets to make you smile (possibly) on a bleak Sunday afternoon:Discussing the feasibility of selling bottled Caterham Bourne water in the nearby @Tesco #enterprisingBring your own fish, I'm rather devoid of wildlife at present. Shopping trolleys don't count.Hey people of @Tesco have you never seen a pond before? What's with all the staring? My my..these chaps from @LondonFire are rather dishy. Might try and get a phone number or two. Have you *seen* the size of their hoses?People of Kenley..I'm taking one for the team. Well, when I say one, I mean several million litres #purleypond
