CRYSTAL Palace defender Paddy McCarthy was a happy man after the Eagles picked up a vital three points against Hull City on Tuesday night.
The club captain, who came on in the second half to form a three-man centre-back unit with Danny Gabbidon and Damien Delaney, is targeting 40 points for survival.
But he insists he and the squad are not getting carried away with their impressive form of late either.
"It was massive game and I was delighted to get the three points first and foremost," McCarthy told the Advertiser.
"To come out on top gives the boys a great deal of confidence. It's another result ticked off and another three points.
"We won't get ahead of ourselves and we know we have another 15 difficult games to go.
"We have 23 points. At the start of the season everyone was talking about getting to that 40-point mark, like a lot of other clubs do.
"If and when we get there, we'll reassess from there but at the moment we have 23 and there's 17 to go. We'll be plugging away week in, week out.
"And we'll head to the Emirates now for a nice and easy game."
