BALLOONS, a sing-song and two cakes greeted Violet Brown when she celebrated her 100th birthday.
By a couple of decades, Violet is the oldest resident at Acorn House care home in Hayes Lane, Kenley.
But according to Maria Connell, the home's activity coordinator, she still loves to join in with the younger residents.
She said: "We had a wonderful big party for Violet and she really enjoyed all the old songs. She is a darling lady and we all love her to pieces."
Violet has lived at Acorn House for the past 11 years, before the move she was living alone in Sandy Lane, Wallington.
Ms Connell said they did not know much about Violet's background, other than she was born in London and was briefly married in the 50s.
For much of her working life she worked for the National Westminster and representatives of the bank's pensions department turned up on her birthday to celebrate.
A party was held for Violet on December 14.
