TRADING standards, environmental health and licensing services are set to be shared with Merton and Richmond councils.
The proposals for a joint operation aimed at making savings of £121,000 are being recommended for approval at Monday's meeting of Croydon Council's cabinet.
The initiative has arisen on the back of the Government's 2010 spending review, which compels local authorities to make services more efficient, resulting in savings
A report to the cabinet says that in addition to the savings, it is believed the joint operation will lead to the creation of smaller teams, allowing a wider range of expertise and creating greater career development opportunities.
The report does, however, indicate that job losses will follow a shared working deal, suggesting that the existing management structure across the three councils would be reduced from 16 to 10 posts.
There will be full consultation with staff affected by the proposal, which could come in as soon as April 1 next year.
