GLENN Murray has revealed how he was snubbed by former Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock.

The 31-year-old was shipped out on loan to Reading in September and wasn't named in Warnock's 25-man Premier League squad as a result.

It was previously stated by the ex-boss that Murray wanted to get game-time away from Palace but the striker has now had his say, claiming he was "last in the pecking order" when it came to Warnock's forward preferences.

Kevin Doyle's proposed move from Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan at the time proved to be the final straw for Eagles fans' favourite Murray, too.

"Some people like you and some people don't, it's their opinions," said Murray.

"I was told I was last in the pecking order at the club and that another striker was coming in.

"I felt as though, after those words were said to me, that I really didn't have much of a choice.

"Any professional footballer wants to play football and I'm exactly the same, but I didn't say I had to play or I'd be leaving, it wasn't like that.

"I am not looking to leave Palace or get away. Clubs might be talking but as far as I'm concerned, I'm a Palace player."

Murray has also made it clear he doesn't want to leave Palace but admitted if the club want to negotiate a deal with interested parties then he can't do much about it.

The former Brighton man was happy to get some games on a consistent basis at Reading, where he scored eight times in 18 appearances, and following new manager Alan Pardew's arrival, Murray is set for talks.

"Obviously I am a Palace player, I was only on loan at Reading," he said.

"As a player, you just get on with it and it's part and parcel of the game.

"It's up to clubs, it goes beyond me if they agree a fee or what not. With a new gaffer in at Palace, we need to speak. He's been busy up to now so I am sure will do this week.

"I am not looking to leave Palace or get away. Clubs might be talking but as far as I'm concerned, I'm a Palace player.

"It was nice to get some games under my belt and consistency. That was good as I hadn't had that since my injury.

"It was just the decision people made at the club and I had to deal with that and move on at the time.

"I could not have been called back or anything because the 25-man squad had been announced for the Premier League, so it was just one of things unfortunately."
