James McArthur delighted with Palace performance

CRYSTAL Palace's midfield dynamo James McArthur was delighted with the Eagles' performance at White Hart Lane on Saturday but knows they should have won.

The Scotsman was reunited with Mile Jedinak and the returning Joe Ledley in the middle of the park, and the trio allowed the likes of Yannick Bolasie and Wilfried Zaha to bomb forward on the break.

But it was another player who McArthur credited for his excellent hold-up play to allow the likes of himself to get forward through the middle but also help back and defend too.

"We defended as a unit up from Marouane Chamakh, he sets as example up top and we all followed behind him," said the former Wigan Athletic man.

"We created numerous chances and were unfortunate not to take any. I thought we defended really, really well and looked solid too.

"It was a complete performance except from taking one of those chances. We planned to go to Spurs and make it hard, stop them from playing and making sure they didn't get in behind us.

"We did that and didn't take any chances at the back. The clean sheet was well deserved and Julian Speroni hardly had any saves to make."
