CRYSTAL Palace boss Neil Warnock feels his side could have got a better result against league leaders Chelsea had they taken their chances in the first half.

Palace had a string of opportunities in the first half before a stunning 25-yard free-kick from Oscar and two sending offs changed the game.

Warnock said: "We played really well, great stuff. We should have scored two or three in that first 40 minutes and then it would have been a different game.

"I think the lads at half time were really enjoying it. I thought we played some cracking stuff, the crowd got going as well.

"It was just disappointing on another day I think that we would have got a result and it would have gone our way."

Cesar Azpilicueta was sent off for a late lunge on Mile Jedinak near the end of the first half but Palace's advantage was short-lived with Damien Delaney sent off moments later for a second yellow, albeit a soft one.

Warnock believed referee Craig Pawson had seen "better days."

"I felt that John Terry should have been booked for definite early on," said the boss.

"I thought it was a booking as anybody's. More clearer than any other decision on the day really but for whatever reason he wasn't issued a yellow card," he said.

"I thought he left a lot to be desired. He's had better days. But I don't think that should take away from our lot."

In the second half, a well-worked team goal, as good as any you will see this season, led to Cesc Fabregas coolly slotting past Julian Speroni to give the Blues' a 2-0 cushion.

Palace did grab a late consolation in the closing stages through Fraizer Campbell after some tricky play from Wilfried Zaha down the wing.

Warnock will now look to assess his defensive options with Delaney and Scott Dann both unavailable for the trip to West Brom next Saturday.
