'Bankers' brothel' madam spared jail term

THE madam of a £1 million-a-year "bankers' brothel" was spared jail so she can be treated for drug addiction – despite admitting she still regularly takes cocaine.

Vera Fosuhene, of Kidderminster Road, Croydon, offered £300-an-hour girls to wealthy clients at the central London vice den known as Freddys.

The 46-year-old welcomed customers to the upmarket brothel, which had a huge turnover of £946,776 in the nine months before police smashed the sex ring.

Fosuhene, known to customers as Angelina, encouraged clients who were chauffeured in from the Soho strip clubs to take as many £60-a-time wraps of cocaine as possible.

Southwark Crown Court heard Fosuhene greeted customers, including an undercover police officer, at the door and offered a choice of up to 15 prostitutes.

But the court was told she earned a pittance and was instead funding her own Class A drug habit during a year-long stint in charge.

John Lyons, defending Fosuhene – who has now moved back in with her parents – said his client was still regularly taking cocaine.

Judge Jeremy McMullen sentenced her to nine months in prison suspended for two years, and ordered her to complete a six-month drug rehabilitation and supervision order to tackle her cocaine addiction.

Sentencing her on Monday, he added: "You were a low-level player but your role was important.

"A suspended sentence is appropriate to recognise the seriousness of the offence but allows me to take into account of your very personal circumstances."

She must complete the rehabilitation course with Westminster Drug Project and pay £1,000 court costs by the end of the year.
