CRYSTAL Palace star Jonny Williams looks set to offered the chance to show what he can do in a more advanced position under boss Neil Warnock.
The 20-year-old has been the subject of a number of loan enquiries from Championship clubs in the last week but Warnock will wait until after the Capital One Cup game against Newcastle United to decide on Williams' immediate future before making a decision.
Indeed, the manager is no rush to let the Wales international leave until he's "had a good look at him" first.
The same looks set to apply to club captain Paddy McCarthy, who has also been on the radar of not only Championship clubs but also one League One side.
"There are three or four players I'm thinking about," Warnock said in today's Croydon Advertiser.
"I don't want to leave ourselves too short with Newcastle coming up in the League Cup.
"I probably want to look at one or two of them in that game and then we might let them go. I might let somebody go beforehand, we've had enquiries for people like Paddy and Jonny.
"Paddy would like to go out and play a few games really.
"And with Jonny, I don't really want him to go until I've had a good look at him.
"I think his best position now is in the hole. I think if I'm going to give him an opportunity it is going to be in the hole.
"We're just going to play it by ear. I think Jonny has got a great future in front of him, there's no way we we'd ever dream about letting him go permanently, no chance."For the full interview with Warnock, don't miss Friday's Croydon Advertiser.
