MAYOR of London Boris Johnson has confirmed his wish to stand as an MP at next year's election - but it'd seem he's already missed the Croydon boat.
Speculation had been rife last year that Mr Johnson would seek to be the Tory candidate in the safe Croydon South seat, but that slot has now been taken by Chris Philp.
With Gavin Barwell set to defend the Croydon Central seat he won for the Conservatives in 2010, that just leaves Croydon North - where Labour's Steve Reed holds a huge majority of nearly 12,000.
Mr Johnson, who was in Croydon last week launching a new crackdown on binge drinking, is unlikely to take on this challenge, meaning he'll have to look elsewhere for a safer passage into Parliament.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mr Johnson admitted he couldn't "endlessly go on dodging" questions about his candidacy.
He added: "I haven't got any particular seat lined up but I do think in all probability I will try to find somewhere to stand in 2015.
"It may all go wrong but I think the likelihood is I am going to have to give it a crack."
