SUPERMARKET chain Morrisons opened its third convenience store in Croydon in six months on Monday.
The latest "M local", opened in Orchard Way, Shirley, following on from launches in North End, Croydon and the former Red Deer pub in Brighton Road, South Croydon.
On hand to help store manager Paul Simmons get the venture under way were pupils from nearby Orchard Way primary school. The youngsters brought along paintings of the shop they had done to mark the opening.
Mr Simmons said: "We are proud to open an M local in Shirley and creating another 20 new jobs for local people.
"Fresh food will be at the heart of our store and we are happy that we can bring more choice of fresh food to our customers."
The new store will also feature a "food to go' section with fresh coffee and pastries, meaning customers can easily pick up food on the move.
The store is open from 7am to 11pm every day.
