THE paedophile convicted last week of abducting and abusing children in Croydon was known by a different name ten years ago and used to coach a children's football team.

The Advertiser can reveal that Martyn Littell, 40, who was jailed for six years last Wednesday, changed his name ten years ago from Martyn Freak.

Littell was an employee of NatWest in Goodman's Fields, Aldgate, where he worked in IT before moving jobs.

He also volunteered with the Scouts in Bromley and coached the Junior Reds FC under-nines football team, in south-east London, under his original name.

It was not until a decade ago he changed his name to Littell – just before he got married.

A former colleague, who wishes to remain anonymous, said his colleagues all nicknamed him "Freaky".

"We always called him that because of his name – it was inevitable."

He was alerted to Littell's conviction when a friend who also used to work at Goodman's Fields directed him to the Advertiser story online.

"It was sent to me, saying 'Look what Freaky has done' and I saw the photo – it was definitely him.

"We have a private Facebook group for all of us who used to work there. We are absolutely disgusted."

Littell was found guilty of two counts of child abduction, two of sexually assaulting boys aged between four and ten, and one of performing a sex act on an eight-year-old boy.

A jury also convicted Littell of nine counts of making indecent images of children and one of possession.

"He used to boast about volunteering for the Scouts and being the football coach for the under nines," added the colleague.

"I can't believe now how much access to children he had."

The ex-NatWest employee last saw Littell five years ago. "We used to have reunions sometimes from when we worked in Goodman's Fields so he knew me and I knew him."

A Scouts spokesman confirmed to the Advertiser they had a record of a Martyn Freak volunteering in the Bromley area between 1990 and 1994.
