An elderly man has died after his house burnt down last night.
Firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes and rescued a man from his bedroom on the first floor of the house in Norbury Crescent. He was rushed to hospital but died hours later.
A large section of the semi-detached property's ground floor was alight but fire crews managed to make sure the fire didn't spread further.
Four fire engines and 21 firefighters and officers attended the scene from Norbury and Tooting fire stations.
The London Ambulance Service also treated the man at the scene before taking him to hospital.
Firefighters were called at 4.26am and the fire was under control by 5.16pm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
