Mo Farah admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the British record and finish eighth in his first London Marathon today.
The Brit trailed in some four minutes down on Kenyan world record holder Wilson Kipsang who charged home in a new course record 2hr 04.27min.
Speaking to BBC after the race, double Olympic gold medallist Farah said he would return to the London marathon in years to come: "Yeeh, definitely, 100 percent [I'll be back]. I'm not going to finish it like this. I will be back.
"I would have been disappointed to do my first marathon somewhere else. I gave it my all but I just wish I gave a little bit more to the crowd and all the supporters.
"It was pretty tough. I'm quite disappointed but you try things and if they don't work, at least you gave it a go."
Thousands of runners took to the streets of London today, racing competitively and simply running to raise money for numerous charities.
Locally, scores of Croydon residents took part.
Croydon Harriers star Neil Aikman placed 1834th overall, coming home in a time of 3.05.26, ahead of club-mate Sophie Bates who covered the 26.2mile course in just shy of 3.20. She was the 346th female athlete home.
