BURGLARS stole thousands of pounds in charity money as well as dog biscuits when they raided a vet surgery in Norbury.
Norbury Pet Health Centre, in London Road, has this week released CCTV images of a pair of burglars, who spent two hours raiding the practice.
The footage shows the men taking dog bones and treats, as well as fundraising money for Cancer Research from a safe.
The centre's vet and owner Nicky Gurrin had raised more than £1,500 and will run the London Marathon this weekend, in memory of her father who passed away recently.
The cash, and two other charity boxes behind reception for Cancer Research and The Mayhew Animal Home, totalling approximately £100, was stolen during the break-march in on March 19.
Veterinary nurse Becky Robson said: "It's terrible for Nicky because she had put so much effort in to raise that money and now she's had to start again and try and reach her target in a few weeks.
"She also lives here and she heard her dog bark when the burglars tried to get in but when she looked out she couldn't see anything.
"They got away with two days' takings as well but it's more about the charity money. She thinks they are absolute lowlifes.
"They must have had pets as well though if they were nicking dog bones because I can't see any other reason to steal those."
The response after the news of the burglary provoked a stream of donations to Ms Gurrin's JustGiving page and she has raised almost her £2,000 marathon target again in just three weeks.
Police investigating the burglary have yet to arrest anyone although they hope people may recognise the culprits from the CCTV footage.
