THAMES Water has claimed it delayed unblocking a blocked ewer because one of its workers was threatened with a Samurai sword.
Lisa Bland, 41, had called the water company after faulty drains down her road were leaking raw sewage into her back garden in Neville Road, Croydon, for more than a week.
Although she called the company repeatedly, for fear of her granddaughter's health, she could not get it fixed.
Instead of knocking on Mrs Bland's door, the workers knocked on another house in the road.
A spokesman for Thames Water said: "We have been working to get this blockage cleared but unfortunately, one of our engineers was threatened with a Samurai sword over the weekend so we had to pull them away from the job.
"We have an engineer out there who has been speaking with the customers to try and arrange for the sewage to be pumped away from a manhole in the back garden of a property so we can clear it."
