CRYSTAL Palace defender Damien Delaney refused to blame team-mate Jason Puncheon after his misplaced header allowed Southampton to win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Jay Rodriguez raced onto the free ball and won the battle with the onrushing Julian Speroni before rolling the ball in for the winner on 37 minutes.
But Delaney says no one in the Palace squad "point fingers" when a mistake is made and that they win and lose as a group.
"We're not going to lay the ball at centre forwards," said the defender.
"And we have enough set-pieces where myself and Scott Dann are up for it – there is a good feeling in this group.
"It's the same with shipping goals, whether it's me, Scott or Julian Speroni, it's a group game and group effort.
"We had enough set-pieces against Southampton where we should have done a little bit better.
"I had a good opportunity towards the end from Jerome Thomas too, so we don't point fingers or blame anyone here."
On his new defensive partnership with Scott Dann, the Irishman feels comfortable alongside the 27-year-old and is happy it's someone that has played at the top level before.
"I'm enjoying it – Dannsy is an experienced player," added Delaney.
"It's not like a rookie coming in that you've got to coax through it and he's played at this level before.
"It is the same with Danny Gabbidon. Dannsy knows the game and what defending is all about and I'm definitely developing a good understanding with him.
"We are going to need that until the end of the season because it might possibly be the lowest goals scored to ever stay in the Premier League. What a record that would be to have!"Palace fans, follow the Advertiser sports account on Twitter @AdvertiserSport and sports reporter @MR_LWMediaIf you're on Facebook, 'Like' our sports news page at www.facebook.com/AdvertiserSport
