A DISHWASHER is believed to have caused a house fire in Thornton Heath last night.
Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in a kitchen in Bensham Grove at approximately 8pm last night.
The dishwasher had caught alight and caused extensive smoke damage to the kitchen although all occupants of the house managed to leave the house safely before the two fire engines from Norbury fire station arrived.
The fire took approximately half an hour to put out and did not spread past the kitchen.
