CRYSTAL Palace star Julian Speroni has spoken of his disappointment to not being named in Argentina's latest squad for their upcoming friendly against Romania next week.
There have been calls for the custodian to earn his first senior call-up for the South American country after a string of fine performances in the Premier League this season.
However, instead of naming three goalkeepers in the squad, manager Alejandro Sabella has only drafted in two.
And that could mean Speroni is in his thoughts for a final place ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
"I am really disappointed - I thought I was going to be in the squad," Speroni exclusively told the Advertiser sports desk.
"I know the manager only named two goalkeepers, so there is still one place there to fill.
"There is still hope but I need to stay realistic. I know the manager has been working with the squad now for three years, it's not like he's put the team together.
"I know that may play against me a little bit but as a manager, sometimes you don't want to upset the group before a big competition like the World Cup. I need to understand that and then see what happens
"We still have three or four months to go so anything can happen. I just have to keep playing the way I am playing and then keep my fingers crossed.
"I understand he has watched DVDs of me but I don't think there is a lot more I can do."
