THE Bourne has burst its banks in Coulsdon and water levels in the area are continuing to rise.
At least eight houses in Reddown Road have had their gardens flooded and residents fear their homes will be next.
Resident, Neil Burman, has had his garden flooded and said: "Houses will be flooded any time soon."
Mr Burman has raised his concerns with Croydon Council.
He said: "Their response was to wait and see.
"They have sent some sandbags, however they are simply delaying the inevitable rather than solving the problem. If they continue to ignore this, houses will be flooded and it will only continue to get worse."
In response, a spokesman from Croydon Council said: "Every property at risk is treated as a priority.
"Our resources have been focused on those homes at the greatest threat of imminent flooding, however we've been monitoring the situation elsewhere in the borough on a regular basis and visiting homes where we have reports of rising water levels.
"We're aware of what is happening in Coulsdon. The trash screens on the culverted section of the river are inspected daily and are clear of obstructions. Where further properties are identified as being at risk appropriate arrangements are being developed to support them."
