Pictures by Grant Melton WITH heavy rain continuing to batter Croydon and more to come over the next 24 hours there are fears the worst of the flooding is still to come. The Met Office is predicting heavy rain for the rest of today and into the early hours of Saturday. Numerous homes have been evacuated in Kenley and the A22 remains closed. As one these pictures from Advertiser photographer Grant Melton shows, the makeshift reservoir created in the underpass at Purley Way has little capacity left. Two other locations - the car park at St John the Baptist Catholic Church and the school field at Harris Primary Academy Kenley - have also been deliberately flooded. The latest update from Sutton and East Surrey Water said the water treatment works in Kenley were still operating normally. More than 46,000 homes and 116,000 people receive their water from the works. If it does have to shut down the company says it is planning to supply customers by re-routing additional supplies from other treatment works. Yesterday Croydon South MP Richard Ottaway visited some of the worst hit areas with council leader Mike Fisher.
