SEVEN roads across Croydon are set for a 20mph speed limit under a pilot scheme.
The project would see the speed limit reduced outside schools along those roads at the start and end of the academic day.
Croydon Council claims the scheme, which is being funded by £200,000 from Transport for London, would be "self-enforcing", and would not require extra policing.
The schools and roads planned for inclusion are:
Ark Oval Primary in Cherry Orchard Road
Chipstead Valley Primary in Chipstead Valley Road
Harris Academy Purley in Pampisford Road
Monks Orchard Primary in The Glade
Regina Coeli Catholic Primary in Pampisford Road
St Thomas Beckett in Birchanger Road
Wolsey Junior King in Henry's Drive
A report on the scheme to be discussed at a cabinet meeting on Monday says schools will be consulted on how the limits will work and that if any school opts out they can be replaced by another. The report also says zebra crossings will be installed and the use of "additional/supporting features" will be investigated.
