BENEDICT Cumberbatch has been invited to the unofficial renaming of a lake in South Norwood in honour of the author of Sherlock Holmes. The South Norwood Tourist Board wants the Sherlock star to help them as they christen the unnamed lake in South Norwood Country Park as Lake Conan Doyle. Cumberbatch, who was seen last night in the current series finale 'His Last Vow', has yet to respond to the invitation. The SNTB has been campaigning to rename the lake to recognise Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's spell living on Tennison Road in SE25. SNTB associate Jason Cooper said: "We really think more should be done to preserve Conan Doyle's links with the area and it would be fantastic if Benedict could make it down to the event." The naming ceremony takes place on Saturday February 1 at 3pm to coincide with the ancient pagan festival of Imbolc.
