THE first act to be kicked off this year's X Factor live shows says she hopes to headline the O2 Arena this year.

Lorna Simpson left the show after the first public vote put her in a sing-off with eventual 11th place contestant Shelley Smith.

But Lorna, from South Norwood, has big ambitions for the future and believes she was "underplayed" during her time on the show.

The SE25 songstress invited the Advertiser to her 27th birthday at Buffalo Bar & Grill on Tuesday (January 7).

Although unable to attend, we spoke to Lorna the following day and was informed of her grand plans for 2014.

Lorna said: "I am going to be recording and I am going to get back to being fit because I wasn't in my best shape last year. I'm going to play as many shows as I can.

"My management told me I can play the O2 this year so that would be really good."

Lorna has played at venues in places like Birmingham, Manchester and Carshalton since she was voted off The X Factor.

But she did not get a call to play at Rough Copy and Hannah Barrett's homecoming gig and is not part of the X Factor live tour.

"Rough Copy and Hannah were really close and I think they have the same management so I didn't mind not being part of that because I can play the Fairfield Halls anyway," Lorna said.

"I was disappointed about not being part of the X Factor tour though. That would have been a really good experience."

Lorna said the best moment she has had in music came when she got to perform with Michael Bolton at the G-A-Y nightclub.

But having got to the final stages of X Factor, she still feels she was not given a good enough showing by producers.

She added: "I did a lot of filming, they just didn't show it. At my auditions I got to play one song, but if they liked someone, they let them perform two or three."

Lorna is also open to other avenues, to gain the exposure she thinks her voice deserves.

"I wouldn't rule out anything really" she said. "I'd do reality TV but I think I'd be really good on Loose Women giving my opinions or doing presenting.

"But I'm a recording artist first and foremost, it's not all about the fame."
