FORMER Crystal Palace boss Ian Holloway has conducted his first interview as Millwall boss following his arrival on Monday. And Eagles fans will want to look away now with what he has said about becoming their rivals' manager. During his leaving press conference with the Eagles in October, Holloway said: "I am now a Palace fan and always will be." However, that now that seems a distant memory, and when asked about Millwall's approach for his services, he said: "I have never felt so wanted in my life". Talking to Millwall's official website, Holloway revealed that a former Lions boss got the ball rolling. "Basically I was out of work and I got a phonecall from a good friend of mine, Kenny Jackett," he said. "He recommended I speak to Andy Ambler and John Berylson, and I asked him why. "I met them on Friday and I was completely blown away for a number of reasons. "I have never felt so wanted in my life, I have to say. I am delighted to be here. "I know about the passion of the fans, you don't have to argue with that. "I've had some great times in that opposition dugout with a little bit of banter over the years. "I can't tell you how honoured I am to be part of Millwall Football Club." And the 50-year-old is fully aware of the job at hand – to lift Millwall away from the Championship relegation zone. But he also stated he wants to be at The Den "for a long time" too. "I've got to try and galvanise this group (of players) into what I want them to do," said Holloway. "I'm blind right now, I haven't seen Millwall play this season. "I had a tough game against them at the end of last season for Crystal Palace, and I thought they played really well. "We (Palace) managed to get a draw out of that game. "Last year I had a club that was winning and now this year I have a club that is losing. It's a different challenge for me. "I'm fully aware of the challenge, but whatever happens, I want to be here for a long time. "I've guaranteed that to Andy and John, that's two-and-a-half years, whatever happens. "
