CRYSTAL Palace captain Mile Jedinak has praised Barry Bannan for the way he handled his return to former club Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
The midfielder put in a stand-out performance playing in behind lone striker Cameron Jerome but received a mixed reception from the home fans.
And Jedinak was delighted Bannan's quality shone through to show his former employers what they let go.
"Baz has got loads of ability and he likes the attacking side of the game," Jedinak told the Advertiser.
"It's not to say he won't do a job for you in defence because I think he does throughout.
"But we know he's got that quality with his delivery. I thought he had a great influence on the game in picking up in those pockets and it proved to be a real problem for Villa.
"Credit to Barry, it was a tough place to come to. He would know that more than most, and I thought he handled the occasion really well."
