IT MAY be Christmas tomorrow, but last night's storm has left a lot to be done before people can sit down to their turkey dinners. There are massive delays on the transport network and many trees down around the borough. This morning, there was a landslide near Coulsdon South Train Station on the tracks, which a Gatwick Express train is said to have hit and is now stranded in, causing delays and cancellations on the Redhill to London lines through East Croydon. It is not yet known whether there are passengers on the train. There are said to be several trees on every single local line. Trains will be running directly from Gatwick to East Croydon as they have to avoid Redhill. Commuters are still being warned to expect severe disruption on all lines. And frustration appears to be growing at East Croydon. Twitter user Ann-Marie Blake (@ACHOOGIRL) said: "Amazing patience being employed by station staff at East Croydon. Answering the same question over and over again #UKStorm." Coulsdon appears to be the area worst affected by flooding after last night's torrential rain. Buses are being diverted from Coulsdon due to flooding in the area. Marlpit Lane is also closed due to flooding between Chaldon Way and B2030 Coulsdon Road diversion. The playground at Coulsdon Memorial Ground is also under water. Charles King, chair of the East Coulsdon Residents' Association, who lives on Reddown Road, said there were a lot of fences down in his road. The A23 at Purley Cross and Foxley is now fully reopen following earlier flooding. Yesterday, a 6ft wall collapsed on a teenage boy in Upper Norwood, leaving him with pelvic injuries. A huge tree also crushed a telecommunications company van in Canning Road, East Croydon. Keep checking this website for further updates.
