THOUSANDS of homes across South Croydon and Bromley were plunged into darkness as the storm raged this evening.
One family in Forestdale said they were having to wrap Christmas presents by torchlight.
Residents in the area took to Twitter as they sat in the dark.
Daphne Prebble tweeted: "Power cut in Forestdale, Selsdon."
@holly_marie1x added: "Anyone else in Forestdale sitting in the pitch black...just great."
And @MJDL27 added: "The whole of Forestdale has had a power cut I think."
Reports in the area say the power went off shortly after 9.30pm but came back in some places at around 10.10pm.
