Hello, how's tricks?
Good, busy, but good.
I'll to start with the obvious.. Why Soapy Jefferson?
It's two words put together almost randomly by Joe. We later found out it was also a conman from the Old West when we were surprisingly contacted by "Soapy" Jefferson Smith's great-great-grandson. We ended up on his cowboy blog somehow.
Tell us a little bit more about the band. How and where did you first meet?
Me and Joe have been friends since primary school and grew up in Croydon writing and playing music together. We met Jim in 2010 via a Gumtree advert, once we had decided to start a band with some songs I had written at university.
I have to say, I love your music, where do you get your inspiration?
Well, we all listen to a wide range of music and that definitely filters into how we play and write... I guess gritty blues underlies everything though that isn't always what we play.
What gigs do you have coming up?
We aren't going to gig for a while. When we find the right drummer we'll be able to get things properly moving for the first time but we won't start gigging again until we've got a world class set together. In the meantime we're going to focus on releasing our debut album "Balloon" and writing the third album.
Which song would you most like to cover?
Teddy Bear's Picnic in the style of Tom Waits.
Cool! Describe your music in 5 words…
Boo bee doo daa pow!
