JOEL WARD has praised Marouane Chamakh after his recent resurgence in front of goal.
The Moroccan striker netted his fourth goal of the season at Stamford Bridge with a first-time effort from the former Portsmouth defender's low cross.
And Ward said his team-mate was proving his worth to Palace with his third goal in his last three games.
He said: "Another goal for Marouane, and he's been a big player for us. He hasn't been at the clubs he has been at for no reason.
"He's a very good player, we are happy to have him, and we're glad to have him, because he produces goals like at Chelsea."
Meanwhile, Ward said he felt Palace were unfortunate not to come away with something from Stamford Bridge.
He said: "We were unlucky to lose at Chelsea, and I thought we could have maybe done a little bit better with the goals conceded.
"As a group, I thought we did defend well and we pressed well. Maybe on another day, we could have taken the chances we had."
