A CHART-TOPPING singer will be the main attraction at a play coming to the Ashcroft Theatre next month.
Former Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow has been announced as the star of the latest production of Willy Russell's famous play Blood Brothers, which will hit Croydon in February.
Pellow first came to the attention of the British public as the lead singer of Wet Wet Wet, most famous for their huge number one hit Love Is All Around, which topped the charts for 15 weeks in 1994.
Since leaving the band, which scored 25 chart hits, Scotsman Pellow has released an acclaimed solo album and starred in several theatre productions, working alongside the likes of Sir Tim Rice and Leslie Bricusse.
He joins the 2013 tour of Blood Brothers direct from a 22 date international arena tour of Jeff Wayne's musical The War of the Worlds – The New Generation.
Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving story of twin boys separated at birth, only to be reunited, by a twist of fate and a mother's haunting secret.
The memorable score includes A Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It's Not True.
The production, directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright, runs from Monday, February 4, until Saturday, February 9, at the Ashcroft Theatre.
